Role Summary
This position focuses on delivering patient education and clinical support for individuals living with diabetes. The educator will help patients better manage their condition through personalized care plans, practical teaching, and ongoing guidance, while working in line with M42, MH, and DOH/DHA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Service Line Manager to help achieve the cluster’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Evaluate patient requirements using clinical information, medical background, and laboratory findings.
- Create and carry out individualized diabetes care and management plans.
- Teach patients and families about oral and injectable medicines, glucose monitoring, diet, lifestyle modification, and prevention of complications.
- Arrange referrals to other healthcare professionals when required and follow patient progress over time.
- Provide physicians with input on insulin and oral hypoglycemic dose changes when clinically appropriate.
- Manage the caseload efficiently and maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical records.
- Help develop and continuously improve clinical policies and procedures.
- Follow JCI, DOH/DHA, infection prevention, and health and safety requirements.
- Take part in audits, research activities, quality improvement projects, and educational initiatives.
- Offer mentoring or support to colleagues when needed.
- Keep professional knowledge current through CME and participation in internal learning activities.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong focus on patient advocacy.
- Encourage safe, inclusive care and report incidents or potential risks proactively.
- Support organizational goals within a changing healthcare environment.
- Follow occupational safety and health rules as well as infection control practices throughout the facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Nutrition, or a closely related discipline.
- Completion of an approved diabetes education specialty certification in line with DOH/DHA requirements.
- At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in diabetes education or a similar clinical role.
- Valid DOH/DHA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Working knowledge of current diabetes care approaches, including modern technologies and treatment options.
- Strong awareness of healthcare regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient teaching abilities.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an added advantage.
- Comfortable using computers, audio-visual equipment, and standard office tools regularly.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs and remain standing for extended periods during education sessions.
- Capable of moving between departments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

This role requires active participation in a clinical environment and includes both patient-facing and cross-functional coordination responsibilities. The work setting may involve frequent use of office and presentation equipment, physical movement across departments, and extended periods of standing during education sessions.
