Job description
About the Company
OpenAI is an AI research and deployment organization focused on making sure artificial general intelligence creates value for everyone. The company continues to advance what AI can do while keeping safety, responsible release, and human impact at the center of its work.
To support that mission, OpenAI looks for a team with a broad mix of backgrounds, viewpoints, and lived experiences.
About the Opportunity
OpenAI is looking for a senior APAC Developer Marketing Lead to shape the regional strategy for developer audiences across Asia-Pacific. This person will turn global developer priorities into locally effective programs, build trust with technical builders through practical education and credible storytelling, and drive strong launches and ecosystem engagement.
The role is primarily centered on developers, while also supporting startup marketing in areas where founder and builder communities overlap. This may include technical founders, startup builders, founder-developer groups, ecosystem events, and programs that help promising startups discover and build with OpenAI. The right candidate will bring deep developer marketing expertise, strong regional judgment, and the ability to work closely with Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Product, Growth, Startups, Partnerships, Content, Events, and regional marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the developer marketing direction for APAC across priority markets, audience segments, channels, and product launch moments.
- Create programs that strengthen developer awareness, product education, adoption, understanding, and advocacy.
- Adapt global launch messaging and developer narratives into campaigns that resonate across the region.
- Work with Developer Relations and technical partners to keep programs credible, practical, and aligned with builder needs.
- Design scalable regional motions across technical content, education, developer events, hackathons, builder workshops, community touchpoints, ecosystem partnerships, and builder storytelling.
- Contribute to startup marketing efforts where startup and developer communities intersect, including technical founders, startup builders, founder-led proof points, startup ecosystem moments, and initiatives that drive early adoption among builders while keeping developers as the core audience.
- Set clear operating cadences, priorities, measurement approaches, and feedback loops with global and regional stakeholders.
- Bring local APAC market insight, ecosystem knowledge, and regional opportunities into global planning discussions.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in developer marketing, technical marketing, product marketing for developer products, community-led technology marketing, or integrated marketing for technical platforms.
- A demonstrated history of creating trusted, effective marketing programs for developer audiences.
- Experience running regional or multi-market initiatives across launches, education, content, events, community, and ecosystem channels.
- Strong cross-functional background working with Developer Relations, Product, Product Marketing, Growth, Startups, Partnerships, and regional marketing teams.
- The ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on delivery in fast-paced, uncertain environments.
- Strong skills in communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management.
- A solid understanding of how developer trust, technical usefulness, and product adoption connect.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Background in AI, APIs, developer platforms, cloud tooling, or applied AI ecosystems.
- Knowledge of APAC developer communities, technical events, startup ecosystems, accelerators, investors, and founder-builder channels.
- Experience working across the overlap of developer and startup audiences, such as builder programs, founder storytelling, or startup ecosystem activations.
