Overview
Agency 39A is looking for a Design Researcher to join its digital transformation and user experience consultancy team in Trelawny, Jamaica. In this role, you will help uncover what users need, how they behave, and what they feel, then turn those findings into practical design direction that supports client goals.
You will partner with UX/UI designers, product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to plan and carry out research that guides the design process. The role calls for strong curiosity, thoughtful questioning, solid analytical ability, and the ability to turn research into clear recommendations that improve products and services.

Responsibilities
- Design and run user research activities such as interviews, surveys, usability tests, and ethnographic studies to better understand user needs, challenges, and behaviors.
- Work with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to set research goals, choose suitable methods, and build research plans.
- Review and interpret research data, then convert the findings into practical suggestions that support design choices and strategy.
- Prepare and deliver well-structured research outputs such as reports, personas, journey maps, and other materials for internal teams and clients.
- Help shape design guidelines, working practices, and standards using insights gathered from research.
- Encourage empathy and user-focused thinking across the organization, keeping the user’s viewpoint central during design and development.
- Keep learning about current design research methods, tools, and trends, and apply that knowledge to improve your work.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in design research or a closely related role, supported by a portfolio of completed research work.
- Hands-on knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
- Strong reasoning and analysis skills with the ability to make sense of complex information and identify meaningful insights.
- Excellent verbal and presentation abilities for explaining findings and recommendations to different audiences.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
- Genuine interest in users and a strong commitment to building user-centered solutions.
