Role overview

Shive-Hattery is hiring an Architect for its Tucson office, and the role is open to professionals with 0 to 5 years of experience. Working under the guidance of the Studio Leader, you will contribute design expertise to public building projects and related services, with the goal of supporting client satisfaction and business outcomes. Involvement in AIA, NCARB, or community activities is considered a plus.

What you'll do

  • Take part in design conversations, concept development, collaboration, and design work across sketches, drawings, models, and 3D visuals.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of design deliverables and technical documentation under the supervision of a licensed design professional.
  • Create graphic and visual presentation materials.
  • Develop and detail project work in Revit.
  • Join project and client meetings alongside design professionals.
  • Represent the company with clients and contractors on active projects.

What the role calls for

  • This is an entry-level opportunity suited to candidates with up to 5 years of professional experience.
  • You should have completed an accredited professional degree program and hold a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, or have an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of architectural systems design, construction documentation, and related technologies is needed.
  • You should show strong aptitude for critical and creative thinking in design and throughout the design process.
  • A solid grasp of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code, and current ADA requirements is expected.
  • Understanding of programming, planning, and building performance is an advantage.
  • You should be a motivated, creative professional who understands building systems and can contribute to public building projects across different scopes and disciplines for federal and municipal agencies.
  • Independent problem-solving ability is important.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Google SketchUp is required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed.
