Role overview
Zara is seeking a Deputy Store Manager for its Birmingham store. This is a fast-moving, commercially focused leadership role for someone who can lead confidently from the floor, keep a large store running smoothly, and deliver strong outcomes through people, product and pace.
In this position, you will partner with the General Manager to oversee day-to-day store operations, including sales, stock movement, team performance and the customer journey. You will act as an important link between departments, helping ensure efficient execution while maintaining a high-energy shop floor.
The role is highly hands-on and varied, requiring ownership, composure under pressure and a continuous drive to improve performance.
Commercial and operational focus
- Drive store results and work toward exceeding key performance indicators.
- Coordinate with Product, Operations and Customer Experience teams to improve sales outcomes.
- Keep stock moving efficiently and maintain healthy product availability.
- Spot opportunities for improvement and act on them quickly.
- Maintain strong operating standards across the store.
People and leadership
- Lead, encourage and develop a large, varied team.
- Oversee rotas, productivity and payroll while staying within budget.
- Support hiring, performance reviews and succession planning.
- Work with HR on employee relations and wellbeing initiatives.
- Help build a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
Customer experience
- Set the standard for excellent customer service.
- Partner with Customer Experience teams to improve the in-store journey.
- Ensure smooth execution across all customer touchpoints.
Compliance and standards
- Ensure Health & Safety, security and cash-handling procedures are followed.
- Protect stock and help minimise shrinkage through strong controls.
- Keep presentation and maintenance standards consistently high.
