Job description

Role overview

As Deputy Manager, you will take full responsibility for the shop and the team whenever the Shop Manager is unavailable. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day shop operations, lead the team, and help ensure the branch runs smoothly and successfully. You will also play a key part in creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere so customers enjoy a memorable visit every time they come in.

This is a busy, customer-facing position where you and your team will represent the business at the front line. The role also involves promoting online products and services within the shop, reflecting the company’s focus on blending retail with digital engagement.

The company is looking for people who are enthusiastic about motivating others, driving performance, and developing their careers into management. A curious mindset, an energetic personality, innovation, and a strong drive to succeed are all valued in this opportunity.

How the role works

The emphasis is on excellent customer service, strong relationships, teamwork, and helping the shop perform well. You will support and coach colleagues so they can deliver great service in person and over the phone, while also cross-selling retail and online offerings.

  • Step up and manage the shop when the Shop Manager is not present.
  • Build positive relationships with customers by listening to feedback and staying engaged both in person and over the phone.
  • Use shop performance measures and KPIs to spot opportunities and help improve results.
  • Ensure the shop follows social responsibility commitments, operational standards, and cash-handling processes.
  • Encourage open communication so colleagues can share ideas for improving speed, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead by example and support the team in maintaining high standards of shop presentation.

Working style

You should be a collaborative team player who can give clear direction and constructive feedback. The role suits someone who enjoys helping others work to a high standard and who can adapt to changing situations. A willingness to keep learning and develop within the business is important.
