Role overview
As a Department Manager, you will help drive store sales and profit by shaping and executing a plan that delivers an excellent customer experience across your department and the wider store. You will also focus on building a strong team, supporting employee growth, and managing performance in a structured way aligned with results, values, and leadership expectations. The role must be carried out in line with legal obligations, H&M standards, internal policies, and procedures to ensure expectations are met for both customers and colleagues.
This role reports to the Store Manager, and Sales Advisors report directly to you.
Key responsibilities
- Set the tone for a positive, inspiring environment that supports a strong experience for both colleagues and shoppers.
- Assess team performance, share regular feedback, and help develop future leaders through training and succession planning.
- Track and review sales and profit KPIs for your department, then act on the findings.
- Make sure health and safety, security, and legal requirements are consistently followed according to H&M standards and local regulations.
- Share inputs with the Store Manager and Area Teams on stock allocation and replenishment so garment levels match sales patterns, and flag any risks, challenges, or opportunities linked to competitors.
Requirements
- You are inclusive, upbeat, imaginative, eager to learn, and genuinely interested in customer service and helping people express their style.
- You work well across multiple tasks, adapt easily, and thrive in a busy, fast-moving setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- 1–2+ years of transferable experience is welcome.
- Prior management experience in a customer-facing environment is required.
- You should have experience leading and supervising teams.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gangtok. The position reports to the Store Manager.
