This position sits within a local authority team and focuses on dependable, customer-oriented transport support for libraries, museums, community hubs, and related traded services. The successful person will move a variety of items, such as books, furniture, shelving, salvage, and other equipment, throughout West and North Northamptonshire so that service teams can operate smoothly.
Main duties
- Provide a reliable delivery and collection service with a strong customer service approach.
- Transport books, furniture, shelving, salvage, and other equipment between sites and service areas.
- Support service delivery across West and North Northamptonshire by ensuring resources reach the right teams on time.
- Carry out planned runs and also respond to unplanned collection or delivery requests when needed.
- Operate a van safely and in accordance with Road Traffic Act requirements and council procedures.
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, as well as routine cleaning, maintenance checks, and refuelling.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and warehousing activities for service and supplier materials.
- Report faults, concerns, or incidents quickly to the relevant manager.
- Ensure the vehicle is used safely in all weather and road conditions.
Requirements
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Strong commitment to customer service and professional conduct.
