Role overview
As a Data Analyst II supporting Core Ops, you will contribute to the BI team’s work in advancing Alma’s mission by turning business data into reporting and insights that are accurate, easy to use, and meaningful. You will help move reporting away from manual, time-consuming workflows toward more centralized, self-serve data sources that allow stakeholders to get answers when they need them.
This position calls for someone who enjoys solving complex business questions with data, blending quantitative and qualitative information from multiple sources into practical recommendations. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment within a centralized Business Intelligence team and partner across functions on key initiatives.
What you will do
- Create and support interactive dashboards, reports, and data models built from multiple data sources.
- Review historical data and turn findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders at different levels.
- Build strong understanding of Alma’s business and data landscape so you can guide others to the right sources for their questions.
- Spot opportunities to improve efficiency in existing workflows and processes.
- Contribute to the BI team’s broader goals, direction, and operating strategy.
- Serve as a connector between the business and Engineering teams to surface data needs and help prioritize data capability improvements.
What you need
- 2-5 years of experience in data analytics, ideally in a fast-moving startup or similarly changing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL at an intermediate level, with daily use expected for querying the data warehouse.
- Experience with data modeling tools or dbt is preferred.
- Hands-on exposure to BI platforms such as Tableau, Looker, Lightdash, or similar tools.
- Comfort using or exploring AI tools to improve productivity and workflow speed.
- A naturally curious, self-directed approach and the ability to solve ambiguous problems through detailed data analysis.
- Ability to explain complex ideas clearly to a range of stakeholders.
Benefits and perks
- Remote-first work environment.
- Medical and dental coverage through Aetna, vision coverage through MetLife, plus FSA and HSA options.
- 401(k) plan through ADP.
- Monthly support for therapy and wellness expenses.
- Monthly stipend for coworking space membership.
- Monthly home office stipend for remote work setup.
- Financial wellness support through Northstar.
- Pet discount program through United Pet Care.
- Financial perks and rewards through BenefitHub.
- Employee assistance program access through Aetna.
- One-time stipend to equip a home office.
- Comprehensive parental leave coverage.
- 12 paid holidays plus 1 Alma Give Back Day.
- Flexible paid time off.
Compensation
The salary band for this role is $101,200 to $115,000.
