Job description

Company overview

Deloitte New Zealand is looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join its Cyber, Privacy & Resilience practice within the Technology & Transformation business unit. This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex security challenges, advising clients, and helping organisations improve how they manage cyber risk while enabling change and innovation.

You will work with a range of organisations, including government agencies, well-known New Zealand institutions, and businesses with national and international impact. The role combines client advisory work, delivery responsibility, and people development, so the work will be varied and fast-moving.

What the role involves

  • Act as a subject matter expert for key clients on cyber, privacy, and resilience matters, offering practical insight and new ideas.
  • Support organisations as they balance transformation initiatives, regulatory demands, and risk management priorities.
  • Collaborate with broader teams to build secure practices into client delivery.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop talent within the team to help build the next generation of cyber professionals.
  • Take ownership of outcomes while contributing to the growth and leadership of people.

What Deloitte is looking for

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT services, with strong exposure to cyber security work.
  • A consulting-oriented approach, with the ability to create clear value and influence stakeholders at different levels.
  • Depth in one or more of the following areas: security architecture and cloud security, privacy and data protection, secure by design, and cyber frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for producing reports and giving presentations.

About the team and culture

You will be part of a close-knit team that is connected to Deloitte’s global cyber network. The team values collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion, and encourages people to bring their whole selves to work.

Deloitte’s wider culture is built around creating impact that matters, supporting clients, communities, and people through purposeful work and inclusive values.

Rewards and workplace benefits

  • Flexible work arrangements that support different ways of working for the team, clients, and employees.
  • Subsidised professional qualifications and paid professional memberships.
  • Subsidised health insurance.
  • Income protection insurance.
  • 22 days of annual leave.
  • Social events, social sports teams, and monthly firm drinks.
  • Wellness and wellbeing support.
  • Volunteer days with a community focus.
  • A workplace that values environmental sustainability.
