Role overview

SecurityHQ is hiring a mid-level Cyber Security Consultant to join its expanding team in Brisbane. This position focuses on managing important client relationships, improving security practices, and supporting the successful delivery of services. You will partner with customers to offer strategic security advice, assist with incident response efforts, and help strengthen their overall security stance.

The role suits someone with solid customer-facing experience, ideally in cybersecurity, who can explain complex technical matters in a clear and confident way.

This is a hybrid position with three days per week onsite at the Brisbane office.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong client partnerships through regular strategic conversations.
  • Guide customers on SIEM and XDR use, threat detection approaches, and ways to improve operational maturity.
  • Create and deliver detailed security reports with meaningful insights for client stakeholders.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for customers and keep communication proactive and professional.
  • Run and coordinate SecOps sessions, operational check-ins, and security advisory discussions.
  • Support the review and mapping of client network and security architectures.
  • Investigate security incidents, event logs, service integrations, and tool outputs to identify improvement opportunities and enhance service quality.

Technical requirements

  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and observability platforms, especially Azure Sentinel.
  • Exposure to common cybersecurity tools, including SIEM and EDR solutions.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security concepts across AWS, Azure, and GCP, particularly in managed services settings.

Preferred certifications and experience

  • CompTIA CySA+ for threat detection and risk.
  • Datadog Fundamentals certification.
  • EC-Council ECIH for incident handling.
  • Immersive Labs practical training.
  • EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Microsoft AZ-500.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
