Job description

Role overview

Tesla is seeking a Customer Experience Specialist to create memorable, informative, and engaging interactions for visitors and owners. You will represent the brand at the showroom and during vehicle handoff, helping customers move smoothly from initial interest to delivery while supporting the company mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

This position focuses on delivering a premium customer journey for both prospective and existing customers. You will welcome guests, learn about their needs, explain products and features, arrange test drives, and lead delivery walkthroughs so customers feel informed and confident at every stage.

Key duties

  • Welcome walk-in visitors quickly and personally, making sure they feel comfortable and invited to start a conversation.
  • Ask thoughtful questions to understand each guest’s background, purchase interest, and buying timeline, then build a personalized customer profile.
  • Educate and excite visitors by answering product questions and tailoring demonstrations, including demo drives and Full Self-Driving presentations based on what interests them most.
  • Lead delivery orientations that clearly explain important vehicle features and benefits, helping new owners leave excited and well prepared.
  • Help maintain a healthy sales pipeline by collecting guest details, setting up test drives, and identifying customers with strong buying intent.
  • Deliver excellent service to current and future owners at every interaction.
  • Take on other duties as needed to support the business.

Candidate profile

  • You bring at least 1 year of customer service and/or sales experience and have a proven record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • You are enthusiastic about Tesla’s mission and interested in developments in the EV and personal transportation space, including local incentives and industry trends.
  • You can explain both business topics and technical concepts in a clear, customer-friendly way.
  • You work well with others, are dependable, and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • You communicate clearly, stay organized, pay close attention to detail, and are comfortable using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • You are available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in a retail setting.
  • You have a valid driver’s license.

License requirements

For positions based in CA, CO, HI, ID, MD, MS, NV, NC, PA, TN, UT, VA, and DC, a Motor Vehicle Salesperson License issued by the state DMV is required to participate in sales activities. Candidates should contact the DMV in their state of employment to confirm eligibility for that license.

For positions based in AZ, GA, HI, IA, IN, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, VT, and WA, a notary license is preferred. If notary support becomes necessary, Tesla will help with the licensing process.

Compensation and benefits

This is a paid part-time role. Eligible part-time Tesla employees may receive 401(k) with employer match, an Employee Assistance Program, sick and vacation time, Tesla Babies support, backup childcare and parenting resources, and pet insurance.
