Job description
About Bushbuck
Bushbuck is a rapidly expanding New Zealand brand focused on hunting and outdoor gear, with premium apparel and equipment designed to perform in demanding conditions. Its products are used in New Zealand’s mountains and backcountry as well as on adventures in remote locations worldwide, and the company relies on a team that enjoys guiding, educating, and assisting customers.
Role overview
This position places customer experience at the heart of the business. It is a practical, adaptable role covering the entire customer journey, with responsibilities shaped around the successful candidate’s strengths. Rather than following a fixed task list, the company looks for someone who can contribute flexibly and help strengthen the customer service function.
Day to day, you will handle customer interactions across in-person, phone, and email channels, taking ownership of the end-to-end experience. Your work will include responding to enquiries, supporting sales, resolving order-related issues, advising on product choices, and coordinating with warehouse and operations teams to keep things running smoothly. You will also build deep product and systems knowledge and serve as an important connection between customers and the wider business. The role requires comfort with changing priorities and the ability to respond confidently and take ownership.
This is a full-time position based in Riccarton, Christchurch, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strong service to customers through phone, email, and in-person showroom interactions.
- Help customers choose the most suitable products by offering guidance and product education.
- Resolve issues creatively and keep communication clear throughout the customer journey.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to quickly address order concerns.
- Manage returns, exchanges, refunds, and warranty requests.
- Oversee showroom activities, including stock presentation, merchandising, and point-of-sale support.
- Assist with stock management, inventory checks, accuracy, and stocktakes.
- Support Bushbuck events and brand activations across New Zealand, such as field days and trade shows.
- Suggest improvements to systems, processes, and overall customer experience.
- Represent Bushbuck positively as a brand ambassador.
About you
You should be confident, open to learning, and genuinely interested in outdoor products and the environments they are designed for. Bushbuck is more interested in how you think and work than in your exact background. You are likely to do well if you enjoy helping others, adapt easily between tasks, communicate professionally, stay calm when pressure rises, and remain organised while managing multiple priorities. A proactive attitude, teamwork, ownership, and a sense of humour will also help you succeed.
Experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, logistics, administration, or e-commerce would be an advantage, though it is not required. This role is also well suited to a recent university graduate starting their career or to someone seeking a career change. The company values character and fit over prior background.
Why join Bushbuck
Bushbuck combines outdoor adventure with a high-performing, energetic team culture. As the business grows, the work stays varied and your contribution has real impact.
What you can expect
- A close, supportive team atmosphere.
- Employee discounts on Bushbuck products.
- Access to the Bushbuck Social Club.
- Opportunities to develop as the business grows.
- Learning and development courses.
- A workplace culture built on trust, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
- A position that can develop alongside the company as it scales.
Application details
Applicants should submit a CV and a cover letter explaining why they would be a strong addition to Bushbuck. Applicants must be legally allowed to work in New Zealand.
Working pattern
This role is full-time and follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
