Job description
About the role
Tesco is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join its team in Portlaoise. This role is the first point of contact for customers, so it plays an important part in delivering a positive shopping experience. The work is active and varied, with no two shifts feeling the same. While you will spend most of your day out on deliveries and working independently, managers and colleagues at the depot are available to support you when needed.
Shift pattern: Various shifts are available.
Key duties
- Put customers first and help deliver a strong home shopping experience.
- Load the van when needed and make sure it is roadworthy before starting out.
- Follow the route and schedule provided for your deliveries.
- Present yourself in uniform and be ready to assist customers.
- Drive safely, responsibly, and in line with the law.
- Show courtesy to all other road users.
- Greet customers warmly and, where appropriate, address them by name.
- Handle deliveries with care, treating each order as if it were your own.
What you need
- A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
- No more than 3 penalty points on your licence.
- A safe, considerate driving style.
- A genuine interest in helping people.
- A friendly manner, a good sense of humour, and strong communication skills.
- The confidence to use initiative and practical common sense.
- A strong customer focus and a desire to make a positive difference for customers and colleagues.
- The ability to remain calm when things get busy or pressured.
Recruitment and compliance notes
All offers are conditional on Garda vetting. At the assessment stage, you will also need to provide proof of your current penalty points, which can be requested from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) on 1890 41 61 41 by selecting Option 4 and quoting your driver number.
If you have been disqualified from driving at any point in the last 10 years, this application cannot be accepted.
If successful, you must provide your bank account details before your agreed start date, as the offer will depend on this being completed.
