Customer Delivery Driver - Lincoln 2 Extra

About the role

In this position, you’ll represent Tesco out on the road and deliver shopping directly to customers’ homes. The work is more than simply driving — it combines customer care, safe handling of goods, and reliable service delivered with a friendly approach. The job is varied, physically active, and each shift can look different. While you’ll often work on your own while driving, managers and colleagues are available at base to support you when needed.

Availability window

The expected working availability for this role is:

• Tuesday: 18:00 to 23:00
• Wednesday: 18:00 to 23:00
• Thursday: 18:00 to 22:00
• Saturday: 13:00 to 23:00

Pay and hours

Base pay begins at £14.18 per hour, with a higher rate of £15.45 per hour in stores located within the M25. Some locations may also include extra payments. A minimum of 16 hours each week is guaranteed, and roles from 12 hours per week are also available.

Key duties

Your day-to-day work will focus on ensuring customers receive a smooth, dependable, and friendly delivery experience.

• Keep the van, trays, and working area clean, orderly, and well organised so every order arrives in excellent condition.
• Load the vehicle safely and carry out the necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and ready for use.
• Explain order updates, substitutions, or short-dated items to customers in a clear and reassuring manner, and arrange refunds when appropriate.
• Handle every product carefully and treat each delivery as though it were your own.
• Deliver orders within the promised time slot and provide warm, professional service at the customer’s doorstep.

• Ability to build positive working relationships and contribute to a strong team environment.
• A friendly, approachable manner with both customers and colleagues.
• Comfort with change and the ability to respond quickly to shifting customer needs while working in-store and on the road.
• A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.
