Job description

Role overview

Tesco Ireland is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers for its Ballincollig location in Cork. This is a practical, active role where you will be the first representative customers meet. Every shift can look different, and the position involves delivering a friendly, reliable home shopping service while working with support from managers and colleagues at the base.

Shift pattern: various shifts are available.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver a strong home-shopping experience by keeping the customer at the centre of every task.
  • Load the van when needed and make sure the vehicle is roadworthy before setting off.
  • Follow the route and schedule arranged for you.
  • Present yourself professionally in uniform and be ready to assist customers.
  • Drive carefully, responsibly, and in compliance with the law.
  • Show courtesy to all road users.
  • Greet customers warmly and, where appropriate, address them by name.
  • Treat each delivery with the same care you would give your own belongings.

What you need

  • A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
  • No more than 3 penalty points on your licence.
  • A safe, considerate driving record.
  • A genuine willingness to help others.
  • A personable approach, a sense of humour, and strong communication skills.
  • The confidence to use initiative and practical common sense.
  • A customer-first mindset and care for making a positive difference for customers and colleagues.
  • The ability to remain calm when under pressure.

Recruitment checks and conditions

As part of the hiring process, offers depend on Garda vetting. You will also need to provide proof of your current penalty points at the assessment stage. This can be requested from the National Driver Licence Services by calling 1890 41 61 41, selecting option 4, and quoting your driver number.

Candidates who have been disqualified from driving within the last 10 years cannot be considered. If you are offered the role, the offer will also depend on you providing your bank account details before your agreed start date.

Benefits

  • A choice of shifts.
  • Part-time and full-time contracts, with hours ranging from 20 to 39 per week.
  • Starting pay of €18.24 per hour for new drivers, plus an extra premium for Sunday shifts.
  • Annual bonus scheme.
  • Colleague Clubcard savings, including 10% off in-store and online, 15% off on one weekend each month, and 20% off twice a year, plus 20% off F&F clothing all year. These discounts can also be shared with a family member through a second Clubcard, subject to scheme rules.
  • Free, confidential virtual GP access for colleagues, with discounted access available for family members living at the same address.
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme with emotional support and wellbeing services.
  • Life assurance.
  • Pension plan, subject to scheme rules.
  • Save As You Earn scheme, subject to scheme rules.
  • Paid family leave.
  • Bike to Work scheme.
