Role overview

Alamo Group Ag Americas, LLC is hiring a Custodian/Janitorial team member for its Selma, Alabama location. The custodian plays an important part in keeping the workplace clean, safe, and presentable. This role focuses on regular cleaning, sanitizing, and simple upkeep tasks that help maintain an orderly environment for staff, guests, and daily operations.

Key duties

• Help reinforce a strong safety culture through daily work habits and participation in company discussions.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclable materials.
• Wash windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
• Remove dust from furnishings, equipment, and fixtures.
• Restock essentials such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
• Work according to cleaning schedules and task checklists.
• Handle cleaning products and tools safely and store them properly.
• Comply with all workplace safety rules and procedures.
• Assist with special cleaning assignments or events when needed.
• Keep supply and storage areas neat and well organized.

Skills and strengths

• Strong eye for detail and quality standards.
• Ability to complete work independently with limited oversight.
• Good understanding of safe cleaning practices and chemical handling.

Experience and education

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Previous janitorial or custodial background is preferred, though not mandatory.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning methods, tools, and supplies.
• Ability to follow both written instructions and verbal direction.
• Dependable attendance and good time management are important.

Working conditions

This position requires standing and walking for long periods, along with bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and lifting up to 25-50 pounds. Repetitive movements may also be part of the job. The work environment may include dust, noise, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment. The role is primarily inside the facility, with occasional outdoor tasks. Depending on business needs, the schedule may involve early mornings, evenings, weekends, or shift-based work.
