Custodian - AbilityOne

Overview

Good Vocations, a nonprofit operated by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, Inc., connects people with disabilities to training, employment, and case management services through the AbilityOne Program. AbilityOne is among the largest U.S. employment programs for individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities.

This custodian role is based at Robins Air Force Base and is part of the AbilityOne Program. It is designed for applicants with a documented significant disability who can carry out the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Eligibility and verification

To be considered under the AbilityOne Program, candidates must have a documented significant disability and be able to complete the core duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Eligibility will be checked during hiring.

Job duties

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, breakrooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned spaces.
• Collect, empty, and clean trash bins and recycling containers.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors by hand or with powered equipment.
• Remove dust and dirt from furniture, fixtures, windows, and blinds.
• Replenish janitorial supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
• Identify and report safety concerns, maintenance problems, or equipment issues.
• Work in accordance with safety rules, SDS guidance, and security procedures.
• Use janitorial equipment including buffers, vacuums, and carpet extractors.
• Handle exterior cleaning tasks such as sidewalk sweeping and trash pickup when assigned.
• Assist with deep-cleaning assignments and project-based work as needed.

Qualifications

Prior custodial experience is preferred, and experience on a military installation is a plus. A high school diploma, special education diploma, certificate of attendance, or an equivalent credential is preferred. Basic reading and writing ability is required.
