This position reports to the Director, Professional Development & Curriculum Design and is based in Toronto in a hybrid work arrangement. It is a 2-year contract with one vacancy. The pay band for this role is Band 3, ranging from 77,475 to 108,465.

What you'll do

You will partner with the Professional Development team to create curriculum, learning resources, and educational experiences across workshops, virtual sessions, longitudinal programs, and self-directed formats. The work requires a strong command of adult learning theory, instructional design, and the ability to turn complex subject matter into practical, engaging, and accessible learning.

Curriculum and learning design

  • Develop curriculum for professional development programs covering clinical topics, practice management, leadership, and other accredited learning offerings.
  • Create curriculum maps, learning objectives, program frameworks, and connected learning pathways.
  • Build learner resources and tools that help participants apply what they learn in practice.
  • Ensure all curriculum is well structured, outcome-focused, and grounded in adult learning and instructional design best practices.

Instructional design and learner experience

  • Design learning experiences in multiple formats, including workshops, online sessions, extended learning programs, and self-directed learning.
  • Use evidence-based instructional design methods to improve engagement, knowledge retention, and real-world application.
  • Develop materials that are easy to follow, accessible, and suitable for busy professionals.

Program development and teamwork

  • Work with the Professional Development team, including the Manager, Professional Development, to support planning and delivery preparation.
  • Manage curriculum-related deliverables across several initiatives while keeping work aligned to program goals and timelines.
  • Help ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience across all professional development programs.

Faculty and partner collaboration

  • Collaborate with faculty members and subject matter experts to turn content into effective learning experiences.
  • Provide faculty with supporting materials and guidance to prepare for delivery.
  • Make sure learning objectives, content, and delivery methods work together effectively.

Evaluation, improvement, and innovation

  • Build evaluation into curriculum design and help develop tools that measure learning outcomes.
  • Review feedback and identify ways to strengthen programs and learning experiences.
  • Refine curriculum based on evaluation results and emerging learner needs.
  • Translate new knowledge, research, and best practices into practical learning resources.
  • Keep up with developments in curriculum design, instructional design, and professional learning, and help improve templates, tools, and processes used by the team.

Required qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in curriculum design, instructional design, learning design, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Proven experience creating structured, high-quality learning content and experiences.
  • Excellent writing and editing ability, with skill in simplifying complex ideas into clear, engaging learning material.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
  • A degree or diploma in education, instructional design, curriculum studies, or a related field.

Preferred experience

  • Background in professional education or continuing education, especially in healthcare or a non-profit setting.
  • Experience working with physicians or other regulated professionals.
  • Exposure to blended, virtual, or longitudinal learning design.
  • Experience with program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
