Job description

Role overview

Linesight is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join a collaborative, internationally diverse team. This position offers the chance to build deep sector experience, broaden your capability, and work in an environment where you are trusted with meaningful responsibility. You will be guided by experienced leaders, supported in your development, and encouraged to help shape the direction of the business as it grows. The company places strong emphasis on long-term relationships with both colleagues and clients.

What you'll do

  • Take an active role in tender and bid activity, from the first documents through to review, analysis, and reporting.
  • Lead the change control process by identifying, assessing, approving, and putting into effect cost-related project changes.
  • Examine tenders and bids to help ensure the client receives strong value for money.
  • Contribute to final account preparation and agreement, including evaluating claims so that completed works deliver the best possible value.
  • Prepare estimates and cost plans for important client developments.
  • Track project expenditure by producing valuations and cost reports, while keeping the team informed of any variations.
  • Help drive efficient project delivery and sound decision-making through accurate cost records and prompt communication.
  • Support the resolution of construction disputes and loss/expense claims in an open and transparent manner.
  • Coach and support team members to help improve performance and encourage professional growth.

What the company is looking for

  • Hands-on experience in both pre-contract and post-contract cost management, including budget control, cost planning, and preparing change forms for discussion with project stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of alternative construction materials.
  • Chartered status, or progress toward achieving it; support can be provided.
  • A degree in project management, construction, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving setting where priorities and deadlines may shift.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with clients and colleagues through openness, shared goals, and a positive team culture.
