Role Overview

Do My Own, a Central Garden & Pet subsidiary focused on DIY pest control, lawn care, gardening, and animal care products, is hiring a Consumer Care Specialist to join its call center team. This is a non-exempt, full-time remote role.

The specialist will support customers with knowledgeable, professional service by answering product questions, resolving issues, and helping educate customers on how to use products effectively. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role does not include cold calling or outbound sales.

Compensation begins at $37,000 per year and is determined by experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers courteously by phone, email, or chat and collect the details needed to help them.
  • Pay close attention to customer concerns in order to fully understand their needs.
  • Use phone outreach when needed to confirm account details.
  • Share knowledgeable guidance and product recommendations based on customer requirements.
  • Explain product features, advantages, and usage steps clearly.
  • Help customers choose appropriate products and related programs.
  • Enter orders accurately and confirm payment and shipping information.
  • Troubleshoot product or program-related issues and help find workable solutions.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns across phone, email, and live chat channels.
  • Keep customers updated on order progress and provide tracking details.
  • Remain current on industry developments and complete training opportunities for continued growth.
  • Take on additional duties as needed to support team objectives.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience of 1 to 2 years is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Solid organization, time management, and math skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a dependable work history.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be able to maintain constant alertness and follow safe work practices.
  • Spanish or French bilingual candidates will be prioritized.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit or stand for as long as 8 hours a day.
  • Typing may be required for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Use of computer monitors and related equipment may be needed for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Headset use may also extend up to 8 hours per day.
