Role Overview
This position sits within a hybrid work setup and can be based in San Francisco, Mountain View, New York, or Chicago. The role partners with business leaders, HR Business Partners, the Global Compensation Team, and other internal stakeholders to support compensation strategy and execution in a highly competitive hiring market.
As a Compensation Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor on compensation programs, policies, and initiatives. The job calls for strong analytical capability, the ability to build competitive offer recommendations, and confidence in presenting compensation insights and market trends to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders and HR teams on compensation strategy, compensation cycles, and related initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for HR Business Partners on employee compensation questions.
- Prepare compensation recommendations for external hires, internal transfers, and international moves.
- Support annual compensation cycles by aligning with leaders on investment strategy, reviewing manager inputs, running analyses, and advising decision-makers.
- Take part in salary and equity range reviews and analyze internal as well as external benchmark data.
- Monitor labor market trends and compensation practices to maintain competitiveness and fairness.
- Create briefing and enablement materials for Leadership Team discussions.
- Work with cross-functional teams and shared resources to deliver consistent outcomes efficiently across business lines.
- Resolve operational issues and complex compensation-related questions from internal and external partners.
- Coordinate with global and regional teams to promote consistency and compliance across geographies.
- Use advanced analytical thinking to interpret complex data and build compensation models and recommendations.
- Perform ad hoc compensation studies to identify ways to improve existing programs.
- Contribute to broader compensation transformation efforts that improve globalization, standardization, and automation.
- Help educate stakeholders on compensation policies, market movements, and best practices through consultation and communication.
- Support organizational transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Either a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience plus 4+ years of experience in compensation, finance, HR, data analytics, or a related field, or 7+ years of experience in those areas.
- Strong presentation ability with the skill to turn quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear, persuasive communication for both small and large groups.
- 3+ years of experience with analytics tools such as Excel, PowerBI, data modeling, and reporting.
- Advanced analytical and data visualization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Action-oriented mindset, adaptability, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively within a complex organizational environment.
- 3+ years of experience maintaining internal client partnerships.
- Team-first attitude, strong motivation, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years of experience using related systems and programs such as Workday.
Compensation
The role has a salary range of $116,000 to $189,000 per year. The final offer will depend on factors such as skills, depth of experience, certifications, and work location. The overall package may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and other incentive compensation plans.
