Community Moderator (m/w/d)

Role overview

As a Community Moderator, you help maintain the quality and tone of reader discussions in Germany’s largest news community on welt.de. Your work contributes directly to a respectful, constructive environment for conversation within the WELT community. This position is a good fit if you enjoy working in a media setting, want to contribute your own knowledge, and are interested in being part of a diverse team at a major media company.

What you will do

• Oversee discussions in Germany’s largest news community on welt.de and help foster a respectful dialogue culture.
• Decide whether reader comments should be published, using community guidelines and the context of current events.
• Represent the editorial team’s values to encourage constructive exchange within the community.
• Respond to user questions and provide clarity on concerns or issues.
• Work closely with the editorial team to ensure consistent community support and moderation.

What we are looking for

• An ideally completed commercial apprenticeship or a comparable qualification.
• Initial experience in community management or customer service as a solid foundation for the role.
• Interest in current news developments and broader social trends.
• The ability to make clear decisions even under time pressure, with a good sense of dialogue culture, respect, and diversity.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with users and the editorial team.
