Job description
Role overview
Platform Property Care, part of Platform Housing Group, is hiring a motivated and practical Community Caretaker to join its Mobile Caretaking team. The role focuses on delivering daily caretaking and cleaning services across estates, blocks and schemes in Birmingham and Solihull.
What the role involves
You will help keep communal housing areas clean, orderly, safe and well maintained, contributing to pleasant and secure places for residents to live.
Typical duties include cleaning shared spaces, removing hazards, clearing leaves, applying weed treatment, picking up litter, removing graffiti, carrying out minor maintenance tasks and repairs, and dealing with fly-tipping.
Working arrangement
This is a mobile position covering sites in Central and South Birmingham, so you must be based locally. Travel between sites during the day is required. A company van is provided, so you will not need to use your own vehicle while on duty.
The post is full time, offering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Core working hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, and there is no weekend work.
What the employer is looking for
The successful candidate should bring a positive attitude, a flexible and proactive approach, and the ability to work well in a team. A strong eye for detail and a commitment to high standards are important.
Experience in a customer-facing environment, especially with cleaning or caretaking responsibilities, would be an advantage. Good IT confidence is also needed, as an iPad will be used to record repairs and complete health and safety checks.
Additional requirements
A full, current and valid driving licence is essential because this is a mobile role. A Basic DBS check is also required. Applicants must live in Central or South Birmingham, as the team covers those areas.
About the employer
Platform Property Care is an established property maintenance business within Platform Housing Group. The organisation values the contribution of its people and is working toward continued growth through a skilled and engaged workforce.
Application notes
For more information about the position, candidates may contact the Recruitment Team. Recruitment agency support is not required, and any speculative CVs will be handled as direct applications.
