Role overview

This contract position is for a Communication Strategist based in the United States and working fully remotely. The assignment begins on 6 Jul 2026 and is expected to run for 1 month. This role is structured as a full-time engagement. Candidates must be registered as independent contractors for a W2 contract arrangement.

In this role, you will shape communication plans that connect business challenges with audience needs. You will work within the communications planning team, using brand direction from the SPI team to build activation strategies and market guidance for creative, media, and social planning. The aim is to create a strong multichannel brand experience by understanding audience behavior, media context, and the most effective ways to reach and engage people.

The position calls for creativity, commercial thinking, and strong relationship management. You should be comfortable spotting growth opportunities in services that align with client goals, using data to support decisions, and preparing useful business reporting. The role also requires sharp attention to detail, confident problem-solving, the ability to simplify complex ideas, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.

Main responsibilities

You will turn strategic direction and audience insight into communication strategies that are clear, practical, and aligned to the client brief. Depending on the assignment, this could mean creating a concise one-page strategy or a more detailed long-form plan that addresses a client’s broader challenge.

You will work closely with internal leaders and external media and content partners to encourage integrated thinking across creative, social, and analytics workstreams. Your role will include identifying barriers to engagement, defining where the brand should appear, and clarifying how each placement should communicate the message.

You will also develop interaction maps and candidate journey flows, contribute to persona development, and ensure strategic thinking is translated into actionable briefs for creative, social, media, and analytics teams. At important stages, you will review outputs from other teams to confirm alignment with the strategy and assess effectiveness.

In addition, you will stay current on communications trends, new audience engagement opportunities, and emerging technologies, including mobile solutions. You will share best practices and thought leadership internally and externally, support new business activity through proposals and pitch materials, and help identify opportunities to expand client services across media, search, and analysis. Commercial awareness is important, including the ability to spot upsell opportunities and support the profitability of campaigns.

This role requires an analytical mindset and a detailed understanding of the media landscape, including editorial opportunities and integrated outputs. You are expected to bring curiosity, innovation, and a willingness to share knowledge across the business. A key part of the role is helping clients see the value of both digital and traditional media, while also supporting long-term business growth through strategic activation planning.
