Role overview
This long-term contract opportunity is for a Communication Specialist who will support a major customer communications initiative in the retail sector. The role centers on creating clear, persuasive messaging to help customers navigate a significant transition to a new payment platform over a one-year period. It calls for a candidate with solid writing, planning, and coordination skills who can work smoothly with several business and partner teams.
What you will do
- Design and maintain a detailed communication plan that supports a large payment platform program and keeps deliverables on track.
- Draft customer-facing and internal communication materials that are consistent, clear, and tailored to different channels.
- Organize and update editorial schedules to manage timing, campaign milestones, and content priorities.
- Work with cross-functional partners such as marketing technology, payments, and external business teams to align communication strategy and execution.
- Help drive awareness and adoption efforts that support a large customer base moving to a new payment provider within set timelines.
- Coordinate messaging across participating organizations to maintain brand alignment, clarity, and a unified customer journey.
- Assess communication results and stakeholder input to improve message effectiveness and engagement.
- Assist with communication planning tied to platform consolidation work as business requirements change.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in communications, corporate communications, internal communications, or a closely related area.
- Proven background in building communication plans, messaging structures, and editorial calendars for complex initiatives.
- Strong copywriting ability with the flexibility to adapt messaging for varied audiences and delivery formats.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional groups and multiple stakeholders.
- Exposure to marketing communications, customer communications, or change communication programs.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, plus strong attention to detail and message consistency.
- Ability to juggle several priorities in a fast-moving contract environment.

This is a long-term contract role based onsite in Charlotte, North Carolina. The position supports a business-critical customer communication effort tied to payment platform transition work.
