Role overview
SGS & Co is hiring a Color Retoucher 2 to work on image retouching and color correction tasks in a remote setup. The role focuses on preparing visuals to meet layout, print, and quality expectations while preserving artistic intent.
Key responsibilities
- Retouch and mask images according to guidance while protecting the creative intent of the artwork.
- Build composite images using standard methods so they align with the final layout.
- Own the final color accuracy of image assets.
- Review images for proper contrast, neutral balance, tone quality, and artifacts such as banding, patterns, and moiré.
- Check product color against samples and reference files.
- Account for print production requirements while preparing files.
- Support spot checks of peer work as part of the quality process.
- Use image tracking and project tracking systems to keep work moving on schedule.
- Maintain clear organization and file management practices.
- Update department leads on assignment progress and status.
- Take ownership of image content at project level and coordinate with creative teams as needed.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and production meetings.
- Handle remote proofing in GMG.
- Monitor color correction of products coming in from studios.
- Prepare CMYK-to-spot color separations with editable files.
Required experience and knowledge
- Hands-on professional experience with Photoshop and working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Prior exposure to applying print standards to image content is preferred.
- Experience working in a color-managed production environment is preferred.
- Understanding of file formats used for print and digital output.
- Practical application of color theory principles.
- Experience with masking techniques.
- Background in a packaging environment is preferred.
- Comfortable using current Mac OS.
- Exposure to Adobe InDesign or a similar design tool is preferred.
