Job description
Role Overview
The Collections Officer will be responsible for following up on overdue accounts, securing outstanding payments, and arranging workable repayment plans. This role calls for confident communication, sound negotiation ability, and a customer-focused approach that protects relationships while meeting company collection goals and policy requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Reach out to customers by phone, email, and face-to-face meetings to pursue overdue balances.
- Agree on payment plans and repayment schedules with customers who have missed payments.
- Keep clear and accurate documentation of all discussions, agreements, and payment updates.
- Review account status regularly to spot unpaid balances or signs of delayed payment.
- Carry out prompt follow-ups on overdue accounts to reduce the likelihood of bad debt.
- Follow internal policies and all applicable laws and regulations related to debt collection.
- Manage customer data securely and with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
- Compile collection reports covering recovered amounts, remaining balances, and customer responses.
- Handle conversations with customers in a respectful, calm, and empathetic manner.
- Address disputes and respond to account-related questions from customers.
- Coordinate with Accounts Receivable, Sales, and Legal teams on more complex collection matters.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a similar field is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in collections is required.
- Comfort with challenging conversations while remaining courteous and empathetic.
- Working knowledge of compliance requirements and regulatory standards in financial services, including familiarity with the Saudi Arabian regulatory environment such as Saudi Central Bank rules.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks, control processes, and best practices, with experience supporting or maintaining compliance programs.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment when evaluating regulatory issues and possible solutions.
- Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external contacts.
