Role Overview
Xilix is an early-stage AI ed-tech startup focused on transforming how students learn by creating a highly personalized, engaging education experience. The company is building what it describes as the first AI-powered teacher for middle and high school students. A prototype is already in place, along with a defined vision, strategy, and roadmap, and the team is now looking for a cofounder-level technology leader to help take the product forward.
What You’ll Do
As the CTO and founding technical partner, you will help shape the product direction, turn the vision into a scalable MVP, and lead the engineering function as the company grows. The role calls for a hands-on builder who can combine technical depth with leadership and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and drive the company’s overall technology direction and long-term technical strategy.
- Work closely with the founding team to test ideas, choose priorities, and improve the product roadmap.
- Use the existing requirements and prototype to iteratively develop an MVP that can scale.
- Coordinate with founders, advisors, and other stakeholders so technical execution stays aligned with business objectives.
- Contribute to AI research and development, bringing forward-thinking ideas and technical leadership.
- Build and shape a high-performing engineering team, while fostering a culture of innovation and quality.
- Take part in fundraising discussions and support the company’s growth efforts.
What the Role Requires
- A master’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or an equivalent background through relevant professional experience.
- At least 10 years of experience building software products and solutions.
- At least 5 years of experience leading and managing software developers.
- The ability to think strategically while still being able to execute effectively.
- Strong understanding of iterative software development practices.
- Deep expertise in AI, including generative AI, large language models, machine learning, and natural language processing.
- Solid full-stack web development knowledge and a strong inclination toward hands-on coding.
- Ability to code using Python, JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
- Customer-first thinking, strong self-drive, comfort with ambiguity, curiosity to learn, and strong emotional intelligence.
