Job description

About aparo

aparo is creating the core operating system for textile circularity. The platform is being designed to support collection, sorting, material movement, provenance tracking, and EPR readiness. Rather than acting as a reporting tool on top of existing workflows, it is intended to become the system of record for the organizations operating at the beginning of the textile value chain.

Role Overview

This is not an employee opening; it is a co-founder opportunity. The split of responsibilities is intentionally defined: the founder owns the product and domain direction, including the domain model, EPR obligations, industry logic, and architectural direction. The co-founder is expected to own execution, technical implementation, scaling, engineering decisions, and technical leadership, while also shaping the technical foundation as the team expands.

Technical Foundation

  • An append-only event store with a hash chain serves as the provenance layer.
  • The product must support material lineage across collection, sorting, and downstream transfer.
  • Multi-tenancy and data sovereignty for operators are treated as core design principles from the start.
  • The platform is meant to generate data as a natural output of operational workflows, rather than through separate reporting tasks.

What the Co-Founder Should Bring

  • Strong expertise in event-driven architecture and system-of-record design.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems, scaling challenges, and multi-tenant SaaS environments.
  • The ability to challenge and defend data model decisions with sound technical reasoning.
  • A genuine willingness to take on founder-level risk and responsibility.

What aparo Offers

  • A real problem space backed by regulatory momentum.
  • A thoughtful starting point instead of a blank whiteboard.
  • Meaningful co-founder influence over product, architecture, and strategic direction.
  • The opportunity to help build one of Europe’s most overlooked infrastructure layers from the ground up.

Location

The role is based in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and remote work is supported.

Ideal Mindset

This opportunity is best suited to someone who sees circularity as an infrastructure challenge rather than a marketing story or greenwashing exercise.
