Job description

About the opportunity

ATTC.AI is looking for a technical co-founder to help reimagine how buildings are heated. The company is developing compact data centers that can be installed in a building’s boiler room: they perform compute work while their waste heat is reused to warm the property.

The main product challenge is the software layer behind it, called the Thermal-Aware Orchestrator (TAO). This system schedules IT workloads based on a building’s heat demand, and the role would focus on owning that product vision and technical execution.

The timing is driven by upcoming regulatory changes in Germany, including the Energy Efficiency Act, which introduces mandatory waste-heat usage from 2026, as well as the Buildings Energy Act. The core TAO research and development has already been reviewed and supported through Germany’s research grant program, and the company is approaching its seed round.

What the role would cover

You would be responsible for the technical direction and implementation of TAO, including the system architecture, scheduling logic, optimization under thermal constraints, and the edge runtime. The plan is to evolve the prototype into a scalable platform and, over time, build out the engineering team. You would also act as the technical partner in discussions with investors and collaborators. This is a hands-on founder role, not a pure strategy or roadmap position.

Profile sought

The ideal partner has strong practical experience in distributed systems and platform architecture, with production exposure to tools such as Kubernetes, event streaming, and observability. A strong base in mathematical optimization or control theory is also important, while the energy and heating domain can be learned together.

This opportunity is intended for someone with a founder mentality: willing to commit full-time, exclusively, and comfortable taking on early-stage risk. You should also still be actively coding and want to remain hands-on.

Technology stack

The current environment includes Go and Python, OR-Tools, Kafka or Flink, Kubernetes, TimescaleDB, and EnergyPlus.

Offer and working setup

This is a genuine co-founder position with meaningful equity and vesting terms designed to protect both sides. It is not an employee role with a CTO title attached. The company is pre-seed, so compensation starts below market and is expected to increase through a salary ladder tied to funding milestones. In exchange, you help shape the technical foundation of the business from the beginning and work on a product intended to reduce CO₂ emissions.

The company is based in Würzburg. Remote work is possible for software work, but in-person presence will be needed for important moments and key decisions.

How to apply

Interested candidates are asked to send a direct message or a short note to the provided email address. A full CV is not required; instead, the founder wants a brief description of one system you have built that you are particularly proud of.

Other information

There is no fixed application portal. The founder emphasizes that this is a co-building opportunity rather than a traditional employment relationship.
