Role Overview
This CNC Engineer position is based in Vapi and involves planning, programming, production coordination, machine troubleshooting, and shop-floor management across multiple CNC and grinding assets. The role is centered on maintaining smooth day-to-day operations, improving machine utilization, and coordinating with quality, design, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure output meets requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for assigning jobs, distributing job cards, tracking operator logs, reviewing active work on each machine, and monitoring the status of current and night-shift assignments. The position also includes CAM programming for Wire EDM and CNC milling machines, supporting process planning, handling trial runs and sample validation, and resolving issues in coordination with QC and the design team.
In addition, the role covers procurement-related follow-up such as raising purchase requests, coordinating with suppliers and vendors, and handling EMS/GAFA and related operational matters. The engineer will also plan work for the next three shifts, organize night-shift distribution, participate in daily departmental and morning planning meetings, prepare MRM data for half a day each month, and support safety and 5S initiatives.
Machines and Scope
The position is primarily responsible for 8 CNC machines, including 4 CNC milling machines and 4 CNC EDM machines, along with a broader total of 17 machines comprising 3 CNC Wire EDM machines, 5 surface grinding machines, and 1 punch grinding machine.
Skills and Knowledge Required
Strong hands-on knowledge of CAM programming, process planning, and basic design concepts is needed for this role. Advanced ability in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is also expected, along with practical troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage manpower and daily production priorities effectively.
