About the Role
Dynacare is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support laboratory operations in the chemistry discipline. This position is based onsite in London, Ontario and is a contract role lasting 18 months. The schedule is full-time, with guaranteed 37.5 hours each week, and shifts run Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
In this position, you will help with sample preparation, sample testing, and a range of post-analytical duties, including storage, disposal, and routine maintenance tasks. Key Duties
- Make sure samples are correctly labeled and identified before any testing begins.
- Handle unsuitable specimens according to established procedures.
- Run complex laboratory instruments in line with departmental standards.
- Carry out basic non-interpretive testing under qualified supervision.
- Process abnormal, critical, and STAT samples according to department rules.
- Track missing samples, related documentation, and results when required.
- Respond to questions and issues in a polite, professional manner.
- Maintain adequate stock levels and use validated reagents and test kits in proper date order.
- Enter results into the company database as needed.
- Complete quality control checks according to documented work procedures.
- Forward results to the Medical Laboratory Technologist for review.
- Monitor quality control standards and make corrections when required.
- Follow pre- and post-analytical quality protocols outlined in the quality assurance manual.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance using documented procedures.
- Record all maintenance work, including minor troubleshooting, according to manufacturer instructions.
- Report equipment malfunctions and keep required routine logbooks up to date.
- Disinfect the work area and equipment daily.
- Store and dispose of specimens according to department manuals.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of a Laboratory Assistant program, or equivalent work experience.
- Graduation from an approved laboratory assistant course, or an equivalent credential.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of the AS400 data entry system or LIS is considered an advantage.
- Very good spoken and written English communication skills are preferred.
- Strong organizational ability.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute in a team-oriented setting.

Additional Information
The hiring range for this role is $22.00 to $24.50 per hour. Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience and education.
