Role Summary

The Clinical Data Specialist is an important part of clinical trial operations across the Iterative Health research network. This role focuses on reviewing electronic health records to find potential study participants, supporting recruitment efforts, keeping research databases organized, and documenting the pre-screening process accurately. The right candidate is precise, highly organized, comfortable in a busy environment, and motivated by the goal of improving clinical research through data-driven patient identification and strong operational support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine electronic health records to locate patients who may meet the requirements for active research studies.
  • Read and interpret study protocols and eligibility rules to understand which patient groups should be approached for recruitment.
  • Create and update databases of possible participants across multiple research programs.
  • Record pre-screening work and related findings in line with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Work with research sites and clinical staff to assist with participant recruitment activities.
  • Support site operations through data gathering, documentation, and coordination tasks.
  • Help arrange patient visits and research-related appointments.
  • Enter data into clinical research systems and internal tools with speed and accuracy.
  • Maintain study records and tracking tools that support operational performance and reporting.
  • Take part in project discussions and contribute ideas for process improvements.
  • Handle protected health information and research data securely, confidentially, and in compliance with policy.
  • Follow company standards, study procedures, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure all documentation and data-related work is complete, accurate, and high quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based applications.
  • Ability to learn and work with new systems such as EHR platforms, CTMS tools, and CRM software.
  • Strong accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to balance several priorities at once.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-moving setting.
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and integrity when managing sensitive information.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in clinical research, healthcare operations, patient recruitment, or data management.
  • Exposure to clinical protocols and eligibility review.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing or interpreting EHR data.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines and clinical research regulations.
  • Experience in a healthcare technology, biotech, or startup environment.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, CTMS platforms, or similar research systems.
