About the Organisation
The Vale of Glamorgan Council provides cleaning services for building cleaning clients. Role Overview
This position is for a cleaner based at Whitmore High School. The post is on Grade 1, SP3 with a pro rata salary of £25,949 per year, equivalent to £13.45 per hour.
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. The post is split between term-time and recess periods, with 10 hours per week during 38 term-time weeks and 10 hours per week during 5 recess weeks.
Key Duties
- Support the delivery of an efficient cleaning service for building cleaning clients.
- Step in for other cleaners when colleagues are on holiday, off sick, short-staffed, or otherwise absent.
- Provide occasional support to the chargehand or site supervisor with training new or existing cleaning staff.
- Carry out a range of cleaning duties, including carpet cleaning, steam cleaning, site-specification cleaning, builders’ cleans, recess cleaning, and any additional cleaning tasks not usually covered in the site specification.
What You Need
- Experience working in the cleaning sector or in a related cleaning environment is required.
- A basic grasp of the cleaning tasks needed to maintain an effective premises cleaning service.
- Strong spoken communication skills and the ability to speak with members of the public and client officers.
- Physical ability to carry out manual, active labouring work.
- The ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently using your own initiative.
- A positive, self-driven approach with flexibility to respond to changing priorities and demands.
- Willingness to work irregular hours.
- Ability to drive and travel across the Vale or between locations as needed.
