This is a full-time remote position for a Chinese OPI/VRI Interpreter. The interpreter will facilitate live over-the-phone interpreting and video remote interpreting between Chinese and English speakers in settings such as customer service, business discussions, and general support calls. The role requires accurately transferring meaning, tone, and cultural context, following client-specific procedures, protecting confidentiality, and using the company’s communication and call-handling tools effectively.
Key Duties
- Deliver real-time interpretation between Chinese and English speakers over phone and video sessions.
- Preserve the speaker’s meaning, tone, and cultural context without adding personal bias.
- Work across customer service, business, and general support interactions.
- Follow client instructions and required interpreting protocols during each session.
- Keep all interpreted information strictly confidential.
- Manage call and session queues efficiently to support smooth operations.
- Record and document required details after each interaction.
- Use internal communication and call-handling platforms accurately and confidently.
- Take part in regular training and quality assessments to maintain performance standards.
- Adhere to professional interpreting ethics and best practices at all times.
Qualifications
- Excellent bilingual command of Chinese and English, with strong listening, speaking, and comprehension abilities in both languages.
- Prior exposure to or training in consecutive interpreting is preferred, especially in OPI or VRI settings.
- Capability to interpret accurately while staying neutral and handling cultural nuance appropriately.
- Comfortable using remote-work tools such as headsets, webcams, and call or video conferencing platforms, with dependable high-speed internet.
- Customer-focused attitude, with patience, professionalism, and composure under pressure.
- Strong note-taking habits, attention to detail, and time management for consecutive back-to-back sessions.
- Solid commitment to confidentiality, data protection, and ethical language-service practices.
- Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent; additional credentials in language, linguistics, interpreting, or related fields are a plus.
- Remote work or contact center/BPO experience will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on client requirements.
Additional Information
This role is designed for candidates who can support international clients in a fast-paced remote interpreting environment. The position may involve varied shift patterns based on service demand.
