Job description
Role overview
This position supports Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs by providing developmental care, supervision, and activity support for children and young people from 6 weeks to 18 years old. The role is based onsite in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany and is part of a regular full-time setup with a 40-hour work week and eligibility for benefits.
Key duties
- Provide age-appropriate care and learning support for children and youth across CYS programs.
- Monitor children and young people closely during daily routines, indoor and outdoor play, outings, field trips, and special events, while keeping track of their location and safety.
- Help deliver planned activities, schedules, and routines using prepared lesson materials, curriculum, and activity plans for both group and individual participation.
- Assist with preparing and serving snacks or meals as needed.
- Recognize and respond to urgent situations such as evacuations, illness, and the physical or emotional needs of children and youth.
Conditions of employment

- For Child Development Center roles, the employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and routinely walk, bend, stoop, and stand.
- The employee must have the visual and hearing ability needed for sight and sound supervision and immediate response.
- Any suspected child abuse or neglect must be reported as required by law.
- All required DoD and service training must be completed within the specified timelines, including orientation, initial, and annual training, plus any required certifications.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications must be maintained.
- Failure to meet training expectations with demonstrated competence may lead to separation.
- The schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and work may take place indoors or outdoors.
- Occasional field trips, both indoor and outdoor, may be required.
Qualifications

- For entry-level consideration (CY-01), candidates must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for entry level.

- For higher levels such as CY-01 skill level and CY-02 target level, college transcripts or certificates may be needed at the time of application.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is the minimum education requirement. Proof of education must be provided with the application. Education used to qualify must be directly related to the position; general education courses do not count toward the required credit total. Education documents must be in English or accompanied by a translated copy. To meet entry-level requirements, applicants must upload a copy of their high school diploma, transcript showing completion date, GED certificate, or proof of a college degree. For qualifications above entry level, a college transcript showing completed coursework or relevant certifications is required.

Because this is a pay-banded position, Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Overseas allowances, post allowance, and other differentials may also be payable.
