About the Role
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a CTO to join a privately owned AI/SaaS scale-up based in Ireland with a predominantly remote setup. The company has already invested heavily in its people and technology and is now preparing to launch a new AI-native product suite built with artificial intelligence at its core.
The business is not looking for someone to simply maintain an existing engineering setup. The foundations are already in place, the development team is established, and the next step is to strengthen technical leadership, shape the product direction, and help the company scale internationally.
The role is suited to a leader who enjoys building, thrives in uncertainty, and sees AI as a core force in modern software delivery rather than just another feature.
What You’ll Do
- Set the technical vision and overall engineering direction for the organisation.
- Work closely with the founders on strategic decisions while staying hands-on with architecture and technical guidance.
- Lead and develop an agile engineering team, with scope to expand the function as the business grows.
- Create a strong engineering culture that attracts and retains high-calibre developers.
- Design a technology strategy that supports significant international expansion.
- Weave AI into the software development process from end to end.
- Introduce modern engineering methods that improve quality, delivery speed, and developer productivity.
- Contribute to product strategy and commercial decision-making alongside the leadership team.
- Help define the next generation of the company’s AI-native software platform.
Technical Environment
The role requires credibility across a modern cloud-native stack and the ability to lead technical discussions on:
- Backend development with TypeScript, Node.js 22, and NestJS 11
- Frontend development with Angular and TypeScript
- Cloud and infrastructure using Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Containerised microservices architecture
- CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
While familiarity with these technologies is important, the stronger priority is the ability to build scalable engineering organisations and deliver outstanding software at speed.
Who This Role Is For
The company is looking for a technology leader who has previously headed engineering teams in high-growth SaaS or technology businesses, especially in settings where products were scaled rather than merely maintained.
The ideal person is commercially aware, technically trusted, and enthusiastic about using AI tools to make engineering teams more effective. Experience with LLMs, coding assistants, or agentic workflows would be highly relevant.
You should also enjoy mentoring engineers, developing future leaders, and making strategic calls in a fast-moving founder-led environment.
Salary
The basic salary for this position is €130,000 to €150,000.
