Job description

About the Organization

Our client, Judson Senior Living, is a purpose-led senior living provider focused on outstanding care and forward-thinking health services for residents and the wider community. Known for its strong track record and commitment to improving quality of life, the organization is looking for a senior clinical and operational leader to join its leadership team.

Judson Smart Living is built around the idea of supporting the lifestyle residents want. The organization operates three distinct continuing care communities in Cleveland, Ohio, offering independent senior living with the reassurance that residents can adjust their living arrangements as their needs change over time.

Judson Park and Judson Manor are in Cleveland Heights and University Circle, while South Franklin Circle is located in the scenic Chagrin Valley. Each community provides a maintenance-free lifestyle along with wellness programs and opportunities for lifelong learning.

Role Overview

This newly established Chief Operating Officer role is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an accomplished executive to help guide mission delivery and accelerate growth across a multi-campus Continuing Care Retirement Community. The position is intended to strengthen operational performance and position the organization for long-term success.

Reporting to the CEO, the COO will provide executive direction and operational oversight across the organization. The role is accountable for resident service quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and the sustainability of assets across all campuses and levels of care.

The position also leads capital planning, infrastructure oversight, and operational execution, ensuring that facilities, technology, and other resources are maintained strategically and aligned with growth and aging-in-place objectives. Close partnership with the CFO and executive leadership team is essential for capital allocation, facility investment decisions, and operational efficiency.

In addition, this leader will oversee campus operations, project management, human resources, and information technology, managing both outsourced and internal service functions. The goal is to turn strategy into consistent, high-quality operations while fostering a resident-first culture across independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and related services.

Key Responsibilities

Executive oversight of daily operations, with responsibility for maintaining consistent service standards across campuses and contractual partnerships.

Leadership of campus directors and department heads to meet operational, financial, and quality objectives.

Oversight of facilities, technology, and operational support systems to ensure long-term campus sustainability.

Direction of HR and IT functions, including outsourced service relationships.

Service as the Integrator for the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), ensuring coordination and follow-through across functions.

Work with the CFO to plan and manage capital investments, resource allocation, and infrastructure spending.

Lead capital projects, modernization efforts, and facility improvements while keeping work on time and within budget.

Manage vendor partnerships and support development and expansion initiatives across campuses.

Build and reinforce a resident-centered culture grounded in dignity, choice, and engagement.

Maintain strong standards for care and service, track resident satisfaction, and drive ongoing improvements.

Support innovation in programs and ensure that facilities and technology contribute positively to the resident experience.

Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Keep the organization prepared for inspections, oversee infrastructure compliance, and partner with clinical leadership on risk and quality processes.

Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.

Review operating metrics, identify efficiency opportunities, and support long-range plans for capacity, investment, and scalability.

Use dashboards and performance data to guide decisions.

Recruit, develop, and retain strong teams.

Promote accountability, collaboration, and servant leadership across the organization.

Support succession planning, employee engagement, and compliance readiness.

Convert strategy into practical operational and infrastructure plans.

Lead organization-wide initiatives, including expansions and new services, and align operations with future planning.

Act as a bridge between campus leadership, executive leadership, and board committees.

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred.

Candidates should bring at least 10 years of leadership experience in healthcare, hospitality, or other multi-site service environments.

Demonstrated success leading multi-campus operations and facilities management is necessary.

Strong working knowledge of CCRC operations and regulations is required.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, data-oriented leader with solid financial judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead through growth and change.

Regular travel between campuses is required, along with occasional availability in the evening or on weekends.

Prior success implementing and integrating the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) across an organization is preferred, including the ability to align teams, create accountability, and support operational excellence.
