Job description

Role overview

The Chief Information Officer is the senior leader accountable for the Trust’s digital, technology and information services. Working to the Executive Director of Digital and Transformation, this role turns digital strategy into practical delivery plans and makes sure the Trust’s technology environment is dependable, secure, and cost-efficient.

The position covers the whole digital landscape, including infrastructure, cyber security, clinical and corporate systems, data platforms, service management and digital continuity. The aim is to keep services modern, resilient and responsive to the needs of clinical teams, operational colleagues and the wider organisation.

This is a senior leadership role overseeing around 100 staff and a combined capital and revenue budget of about £16m. It also requires close partnership with teams across the Trust and with the local health and care system so that technology and data support clinical pathways, transformation work, financial sustainability, and wider ICS digital priorities.

A key part of the job is to deliver visible benefits for patients, staff and the organisation through reliable digital services. The CIO must also ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory and information governance standards, give assurance to the Executive Team and Board, and lead ongoing improvement, risk control and operational excellence across the digital function.

It offers a supportive and inclusive environment, staff networks, flexible working, free parking, and strong health and wellbeing support, along with opportunities for development and career progression.

Surrey is a scenic county around 30 minutes from Central London and the South Coast, with strong road and rail links and nearby access to Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
