Job description

Role overview

The Central Appointments team at Ilkeston Community Hospital is looking for an organised, adaptable and enthusiastic person to join the specialist coordination team as a Co-ordinator. The team manages outpatient bookings for patients across five community sites and works together to help deliver the best possible care.

Hours available

Two part-time vacancies are available: one for 24.5 hours per week and one for 32 hours per week.

What the role involves

This position includes a broad mix of clerical and administrative work. Key duties include managing waiting lists, arranging appointments, handling RTT pathways and responding to telephone enquiries. Because the workload can vary, the successful applicant will need to be comfortable taking a flexible approach.

What we are looking for

We need someone who communicates clearly and confidently, and who can work effectively with clinicians, other clinical colleagues and patients. Strong planning, organisation and time management skills are important, along with the ability to handle several tasks at once and stay effective under pressure. Flexibility is essential to support service demands. Experience or awareness of the 18-week referral-to-treatment policy and standards would be an advantage. The post holder should be able to work well within a team as well as on their own with limited supervision.

Training and support

Full training will be provided on the relevant hospital IT systems, together with a structured induction for the successful candidate.

Recruitment dates

The application closing date is 22 June 2026 and interviews are scheduled for 3 July 2026.
