Role Overview
Join the Canberra Airport catering team in a permanent full-time Catering Attendant position. This role is part of a large inflight catering and retail operation focused on preparing meals and service items that help create a smooth dining experience for airline passengers.
What You’ll Do
You will work across kitchen, bar make-up, and wash areas as part of a coordinated airport catering operation. The role combines food preparation support, stock handling, tray assembly, and quality checks to keep service running on schedule.
- Prepare meals for service, plate food, and set up meal trays while following visual presentation standards.
- Restock airline carts with dry goods, service equipment, snacks, and drinks.
- Load and unload wash lines and check that cutlery, crockery, and glassware are in excellent condition.
- Follow food safety procedures, HACCP requirements, hygiene rules, and cleaning routines.
- Work closely with team members to help ensure delivery deadlines are met.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this position, you should be comfortable with practical, fast-paced work in a shift-based environment and bring strong attention to detail.
- Good numerical ability.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Physical capability to stand for long periods and to move and lift items.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts across a 7-day roster.
- Professional, neat, and well-presented appearance.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knife handling skills are preferred but not essential.
- A clear National Police Check is required because the work is in the aviation services sector.
- Availability to work 38 hours per week, as this is a full-time permanent role.
