sKids has been delivering after-school and school holiday experiences for children across New Zealand since 1996. The organisation now supports more than 3,800 children each day at over 170 school locations and continues to expand.

Role Summary

This casual Programme Assistant position is a relief role, scheduled only when needed. It is mainly an afternoon role, with some scope for school holiday programme hours. The role is well suited to someone seeking flexible work while still contributing meaningfully to children’s daily experience.

Working Hours

  • After-school shifts usually run from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
  • Availability from 2:30 pm is required, although the finishing time may change.
  • There may also be opportunities to work during school holiday programmes, generally between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Key Duties

  • Support and supervise children while they take part in safe, enjoyable activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming programme space.
  • Assist the Programme Manager in delivering sessions that are energetic, smooth, and engaging.
  • Identify and report any concerns related to behaviour, safety, or wellbeing to the manager so children remain supported.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants should have the legal right to work in New Zealand, whether through citizenship or a valid visa. Reliable transport or access to a vehicle is needed to travel to the Pilllans Point, Matua, and Welcome Bay sites.

The employer is open to people who have any kind of experience working with children, including babysitting, coaching, or volunteering. The ideal person will be dependable, energetic, and enthusiastic about creating memorable sessions for children.
