Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position is based at the East Legon branch in Accra. The Cashier will be responsible for handling customer payments, preparing receipts, and making sure bills are processed correctly. The role also includes welcoming customers, responding to simple questions, directing people to the right team member when needed, keeping the checkout space tidy, balancing cash at the end of the shift, and flagging any inconsistencies. The cashier will also assist with counter-level stock checks and work closely with pharmacy staff to support smooth service delivery.
Key Duties
- Process payments through cash, card, and mobile money channels.
- Issue receipts and confirm that all transactions are billed accurately.
- Greet customers professionally and respond to basic enquiries.
- Refer customers to the appropriate staff member when additional help is needed.
- Keep the cashier station clean, orderly, and ready for use.
- Count and reconcile cash at the end of each shift.
- Identify and report any cash or billing discrepancies.
- Assist with stock verification at the counter.
- Follow company rules, procedures, and service standards.
- Coordinate with pharmacy and store teams to ensure efficient customer handling.
Required Background and Skills
- Hands-on experience with cash handling and POS systems.
- Ability to process transactions accurately and reconcile funds.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail for billing, payments, and record keeping.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy retail setting and manage queues.
- Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy work ethic.
- Comfort working on-site in East Legon, including evenings, weekends, or public holidays if needed.
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required; previous cashier or retail/pharmacy experience is an added advantage.
