Role overview
This position is with a locally owned store that is part of a national retail network, serving the health, beauty, and everyday convenience needs of the surrounding community. The focus of the role is to deliver dependable service at the checkout while helping keep customers at the center of every interaction.
Core duties
Your main objective is to provide a smooth, accurate, and friendly checkout experience while keeping the front end organized and customer-ready.
Customer service
- Offer courteous, helpful service and engage customers in a positive way.
- Keep the checkout station tidy, orderly, and easy to use.
- Welcome customers warmly and maintain a professional, approachable manner.
- Scan items or enter product information correctly and efficiently.
- Handle cash, coupons, lottery transactions, and PC Optimum activity with accuracy.
- Request the customer’s PC Optimum card during each transaction.
Merchandising and documentation
- Complete the required paperwork for customer receipts and product returns.
- Support merchandising tasks in assigned areas, including facing, signage, labeling, and similar upkeep.
Loss prevention and controls
- Follow all required loss prevention practices.
- Maintain control over cash, lottery, and stamp inventory.
General expectations
- Present a professional appearance that follows uniform and dress code standards.
- Follow health and safety rules at all times.
- Adhere to store policies and operating procedures.
- Keep housekeeping standards and the store’s overall appearance at the expected level.
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and work style
- Ability to think clearly, use good judgment, and make sound decisions.
- Capable of balancing teamwork with efficient order processing.
- Strong sense of organization and neatness.
