About the Role

Mears Group PLC is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join their team in Medway, England. This permanent, full-time position involves undertaking high-standard caretaking works for housing properties, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to safety, quality, and cost control standards. The role is field-based and requires proactive management of cleaning, repairs, and maintenance, as well as ensuring compliance with safety protocols, including Fire Risk Assessments and seasonal upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning, repairs, and maintenance on housing properties according to established protocols and timelines.
  • Ensure proactive compliance with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) safety standards across all properties.
  • Schedule and manage upcoming works, including Fire Risk Assessments and seasonal upkeep, at required intervals.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to residents.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
  • Utilize a PDA device for work management following appropriate training.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in caretaking or cleaning roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Willingness to use a PDA for work-related tasks after training.
  • Must be over 21 years old, hold a driving license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 penalty points to drive a company vehicle.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not provided.
  • Must be able to pass relevant background, identity, and security checks.

Eligibility

This role is open to individuals who meet the experience and skill requirements. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Applicants must be over 21 years old with a valid driving license held for over 3 months and no more than 9 penalty points to drive a company vehicle. All successful candidates will undergo background, identity, and security checks.
