Job description

Role overview

This position supports people in their own homes by assisting with everyday personal care and practical needs in a respectful, dignified way that helps maintain independence. The role is designed to provide the kind of support a family member might reasonably give, and it does not include duties that require a qualified nurse.

Location: Cardiff & The Vale of Glamorgan

Hours: Flexible

Main duties

  • Help customers get up in the morning and settle in at night, including assistance with dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Support mobility and help people who live with physical disabilities, including continence care and use of personal aids or equipment.
  • Provide bedside support for customers who are unwell and need help with feeding and similar day-to-day needs.
  • Deliver care and companionship for people receiving end-of-life support.
  • Encourage mental and physical wellbeing through conversation, outings, reading, writing, hobbies, and leisure activities.
  • Carry out light household tasks such as making and changing beds, basic cleaning, emptying commodes, and general tidying.
  • Wash, mend, and organise customers’ clothing.
  • Set tables and trays, prepare and serve simple meals, and handle clearing up and washing dishes.
  • Complete written records, contribute to customer reviews, and take part in training activities.
  • Follow company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Report any important changes in a customer’s health or personal situation to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager.
  • Support customers in becoming as independent as possible.
