Role Overview

This opportunity is for an Autonomous Vehicle Emergency Response Specialist who will support autonomous vehicles in real time. The role suits someone who is comfortable with technology, highly focused on safety, and interested in contributing to the future of transportation.

As a Call Handler / Emergency Response Specialist, you will guide autonomous vehicles through complex driving situations and help ensure safe, efficient fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support autonomous vehicles through difficult driving conditions such as blocked roads, tight lanes, and private driveways.
  • Work with the AV system to choose safer and more efficient routes, taking factors such as lane restrictions and traffic into account.
  • Track vehicle behaviour and step in whenever needed to reduce risk and protect safety.
  • Communicate clearly with AV systems to maintain smooth coordination and timely responses.
  • Respond quickly to changing road conditions and unexpected issues.
  • Review past performance to help identify ways the AV technology can be improved.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and certifications.

Requirements

  • Must pass a background verification as well as drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Must have at least 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in 999 or emergency telecommunications work, or a similar field, is preferred and should be at least 1 year.
  • Strong de-escalation ability and experience handling tense situations.
  • High attention to safety and detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills with 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.
  • Capacity to learn from mistakes and make corrections independently.
  • Must be able to maintain required safety compliance certifications.
  • Ability to remain seated and focused for long periods.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in dynamic situations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that supports a 24/7 operation, including holidays.
