Cafe Barista

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Barista to join a Tesco Café team in Hereford, supporting a welcoming food and drink experience for customers. In this position, you will help serve quality coffee, tea, and seasonal beverages, making each visit enjoyable whether customers are stopping by briefly or spending time catching up.

You should bring barista knowledge or hospitality experience and be willing to share that expertise with your colleagues. The role requires strong familiarity with the café menu, awareness of new initiatives, regular stock checks, and fast, efficient service that considers customer preferences and special requests. You will also help support barista development within the team, work with the Café Manager to encourage learning, and use the Click and Learn portal along with other café resources to complete training modules and strengthen your own knowledge.

This role requires applicants to be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of drinks quickly and efficiently while maintaining a fast pace of work.
• Follow food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
• Monitor stock levels regularly and work in line with company policies and procedures.
• Partner with the Café Manager to identify colleagues who may benefit from barista development and support their growth.
• Stay informed about Tesco communications, promotions, new initiatives, and menu updates.
• Handle customer complaints wherever possible and help resolve concerns professionally.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Barista or in a hospitality setting.
• Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Confidence in coaching and training others in an inclusive way.
• Good planning and organisational ability.
• Ability to use initiative to improve working methods or adapt to changing situations.
• Strong communication skills to support colleagues and the Café Manager.
