Job description
Role overview
We are looking for an experienced Buyer to support a high-volume manufacturing setting. The position focuses on purchasing direct and indirect materials and services, managing suppliers, and helping maintain uninterrupted supply so production can run to plan.
Key responsibilities
- Handle supplier partnerships, requests for quotation, purchase orders, and delivery timelines.
- Chase outstanding orders and work through supplier problems, quality issues, and product returns.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers while looking for ways to reduce costs.
- Assist with dual-sourcing approaches that lower supply-chain risk.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Engineering, and other internal teams.
- Keep purchasing records accurate and up to date in the ERP system.
- Track supplier performance and flag any possible supply disruptions.
- Support ongoing improvement efforts across the business.
Requirements
- At least 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong capability in supplier relationship management and negotiation.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Good communication and organisational abilities.
- Fluency in English.
- IPICS or APICS training or certification is an advantage.
